Previous lifetimes imaginary travel – part one!

One of my doodles

As I mentioned in one of my previous posts, I started to think about the theme of previous lifetimes.

Now, I don’t want to pretend I know something about it and, if any of you happens to be an expert or a real believer, please bear in mind I’m not mocking anybody in writing things about past and possible a few others.

The only aim of these posts is a literary and fantasy exercise.

My aspiring writer brain got stimulated, excited and felt challenged so this is the only meaning behind the following mess!

Before I go on I want to give you another explanation. I’m not even an history expert, so what I did was to open the Wikipedia and look for the history of the world time line.

Here we go then.

This is how I imagine the travel of my spirit across the ages:

3200 BC –  I was living in a small village in the south of Egypt close to the Nile. I was living of agriculture. Woman.

3000 BC – Accountant of a wood merchant, I could write. This is still in Egypt. Man.

1500 BC – China. I was a merchant-fishermen selling turtle shells or jiaguwen. Woman.

1015 BC – Dynasty V south Mesopotamia. Separate state from Babylon under Ashuri-Hiriari IV. He invaded the Babylon city of Attika. I was his concubine and a couple of evil ideas were mine. Woman.

776 BC – Greece. First Olympic games, when it was still one-day event. I was an athlete of chariot race and I was one of the favorites. However, I broke my leg during one of the competition.  Man.

260 BC – India. Maurya dynasty, Ashoka who move war against the state of Kalinga. Embraced Buddhism after witnessing the mass of the dead following the Kalinga war. In this case I was a poor farmer killed in a fire. Woman.

240 BC – Ireland. Druids were still active, I was one of them. Woman.

200 BC – Mayan civilization. I was the brother of one of the ladies picked for the sacrifice. Man.

42 BC –  Battle of Philippi. Mark Anthony and Octavian defeated the faction who killed Caesar. I tried to kill Cleopatra as I was infiltrating in this faction even after his death. Man.

561 – China. Sui Dinasty. I was minding the children in the palace. Woman.

786 – Viking warrior, woman warrior. Still have to decide where I was exactly –more to come. Woman.

827 – Sicily, Muslim invasion. I was killed during the raid. Woman.

843 – Kenneth McAlpin become king of Picts and Scots creating the kingdom of Alba. I was the butler of the king, but I died of consumption. Man.

866 – Fujiwara period. Japan. The Fujiwara were the most powerful clan during the Heian Period.  I was one of the concubine of the head of the clan. Woman.

1021 – Genji Monogatari is written by Murasaki Shikibu. Japan. I lived with Murasaki but I had several women and eventually I died of syphilis. Man.

1095 – Pope urban issues the crusade. 1096 First crusade. I was one warrior and killed during a watch as I was dozing off. Man.

1199 – Europeans use compasses (astrolabes were in use already). I was a sailor. Man.

1206 – Gengis Khan elected as khan of Mongols. I was one the news bringer and I lived on my horse. We had an accident and died on a desert road. Man.

1306 – Scotland. William Wallace is executed. I was a noble Scotswoman working in secret with the rebels. Woman.

Ok, I guess that I got to enjoy this too much, so I have to divide it two posts.

See you next time!

But please, let me know in the comment what you think about it!!!

Past Lifetimes.

20170520_090324

I’m in work today, and it’s been a very nasty day for some reason.

This time, instead of bothering you with one of my rants, I’ll publish one old draft.

It’s nice to get lost in speculations, sometimes, in particular when you think the bad luck decided to give your hard time.

Without going into religious matter or in philosophical details, mostly because I’m not knowledgeable enough in those fields, there is a concept I find intriguing and that I think about from time to time: previous lifetimes.

I know that for some people this is a serious matter and maybe it could be even considered a kind of science on some point of view. I promise you my intent is to play with my imagination and I intend no offence to anyone.

The truth is that from time to time I linger on the idea and wonder who I might have been before, what life could I have lived.

I think these thoughts are extremely funny to play with and interesting at the same time. For example, my love of ships and pirates, the excitement and almost nostalgic pang I feel when I set my feet on a ship, ferry or whatever goes on water makes me think I might have been a sailor or a pirate in one of my previous lifetimes.

Also, my curiosity, my love and the push I feel towards Japan might be signs of a previous lifetime in Japan or so I want to believe.

As far as I know there are a few people out there who are able to read your previous lifetime.

Sometimes I think I’d love to let one of them do it with me in order to check whether I was right or not.

However, the thing I love most is to work with my imagination, so I’ll take this post and the following ones – because you know there will be others, don’t you –  as writing exercise and imagination stretching.

First of all, how did I come up with the idea? Or better, this posts idea?

A few months ago, I created a chat where I gathered different people, important for me in different ways. We’re all a bit weird, all of us, but good hearted people. We are, however, so different, that I’d never thought possible to have all  of them chatting together, but we have so much fun daily, that I couldn’t do without them now.

I think I’m lucky to have them all. They’re brilliant, funny, weird and trustworthy.

The chat, other than myself, includes my favorite cousin, La, my best friend I met during university years, Mi, my two friends, Chi, I know since the crèche period and Lu, I met in middle high school.

There should be also Ra, but I think she’s just a silent reader! She’s great too, but I think we scared her!

Since it seems that destiny lately is enjoying way too much teasing each and every one of us, in a way or the other, we thought that in our previous lifetimes we must have been very, very mean.

To this element, I might add a notion I received once, according to which the people you meet in this lifetime are souls you’ve met for sure in previous lifetimes. Maybe the relationship was different but still the souls had met before!

It’s this combination that triggered my imagination.

So, now you know where the whole thinking of my following posts comes from.

Stay tuned to learn where I’ve imagined my soul go across the eras and centuries and years.

What do you think about it? Where do you think you come from? What’s your soul travel?

Holiday break!

It’s the right thing to do at this stage!

Since I’m still playing hide and seek with my stress, and stress is winning, it always finds me in the end, I think it’s right to cut off something else.

What I’m saying is that I’ll temporarily have to cut off with the commitment to write here on this blog.

This doesn’t mean that I’ll stop writing. I’ll keep going on, of course, not only because I love doing so, but also because I’ve promised to a dear friend of mine.

However, I’ll have to find a system that might work for me, and won’t stress me out too much. I know, I know, I’m damn funny, you might think!

I’m actually doing it already! I haven’t update this blog for ages, almost a month.

It’s not like I’m trying to repairing with this post, I’m rather taking consciousness of the problem and trying to sort it at my best.

I don’t even know if this break is going to help, but I’ll try to brace myself and prepare a few posts in advance, so I won’t have much stress on me when I’ll come back.

To be honest with you I have some snippets of posts already made, I had weird dreams and I keep jotting down the ideas about what I’d love to write about. This let me hope I’ll manage once again to make it.

So, no worries, I’ll have my holiday break and I’ll come back in January as fresh as ever!

For the time being I wish you all the best for the holidays to come!

Love this! I didn't do it, of course! It's a google search!

I’m a mixed type – a bit bookmarks user and a bit monster!

One of the meme I happen to see more often lately on social networks is the one related to bookmarks.

The genius who decided to draw the picture made it in the way to separate the reader’s world into two categories: those who use the bookmarks and monsters…I know you might have seen it at least once.

Now, I have to tell you that this meme rubs me in the wrong way every single time I see it, but I refrain to write my point of view in order to avoid long discussions on social networks threads, but this is my blog so I can freely speak!

You know what? Sometimes I’m a monster…boo! I do dog ears to books! So what? Sue me!

If it’s true that you have to live a book and that books have souls, I believe it’s also true that books are ready to tell your history, the way you’ve read them and also the pattern you followed, the idea you had and also what you ate in that particular moment.

Yes, you heard me well!

If I wanted to buy books, reading them staying straight and opening just that tad that would avoid any sign of usage for the collection’s sake, I’d have rather preferred to become a Ming vase collector!

You sit, walk, eat, sleep with you books! Live with them! And if they show the sign of it, so be it!

I understand that not all of you might agree, but this is my opinion!

Sometimes I decide to be less “monster” and use whatever I have around me in a short radius as bookmark!

I’ve made you a collage of some bookmarks I’m currently using. You know that I read several books at the same time right?

bookmarks-collage

Aren’t they gorgeous?

As you might see I use basically everything that I come across as bookmark. Yes, even a clean bit of toilet paper.

Then you can see some regular bookmarks and even the clothes tag when they’re cute, like the Sons of Anarchy or Alice in wonderland’s one.

The thing is that I read many books and sometimes I start to read them or I finish to read them in different places and, in order to keep track of the progress, I’ll put whatever I have around me as bookmark.

However, when I really don’t have anything else or, when I’m sick and tired to lose the bookmark I picked for that particular book, then I’d dog ear the page.

How about you? Are you a bookmark user or a monster or a mixed type as myself?

If I had a Death note and I met a Shinigami, what would I do?

It’s the end of the peak season and the fatigue of the summer is taking its toll. It’s also true that it’s Halloween, which is becoming very fast my favorite part of the year. Hence the combination of these two elements resulted in this post!

When you’re in your living room, tired, at the end of the day and you’re trying uselessly to drain your brain while it’s leaking through your nose, I guess it’s pretty normal thinking about these kind of stuff.

Also when you’re almost on the edge of your holiday and the work has become a bit heavier due to the increasing number of crazy people, you really start wondering whether there is a way out of the stress and the mess.

For those who don’t know what Death Note is I’ll tell you in a few words. It’s a manga and an anime with a very simple story. A high school student finds a death note on the ground and start using it slowly becoming obsessed what the idea to play god. The reason why he finds a death note on the ground is a Shinigami, a death god, who decided to make his immortal existence funnier and dropped the divine instrument to have a fun with the consequences of his gesture.

The basic of this notebook is that if you write a name on its pages, knowing the face of the person, this person dies. If you add details about the death, the death happens in that exact way.

Light Yagami, the main character of this manga and anime, uses the notebook at first to kill all the criminals and then he got a bit taken into the loop of feeling god and things start to get out of hands!

I’m not giving you any further spoilers here, but I didn’t like the end.

One of the worse finale I’ve ever seen in my life.

Anyway, what I thought watching this anime and being an aspiring writer, is: how these guys came out with the idea in the first place? They must have been pretty pissed off at someone, I’d say.

And then, during the peak season and, most of all, during the calm spell after that, where only the craziest and less reasonable people are calling and writing in, I had my enlightenment.

The writer and/or the illustrator behind Death Note used to work in the customer support field.

There is absolutely no other explanation to this creation.

I mean, I know that wanting to kill people because they’re damn idiots, or impolite, or because yell at you for no reason whatsoever sounds extreme …oh wait, no it’s not.

No… yes, it is.

But what if we could have a Punishment Note? Oh that would be so cool!

Write his name and his brain disappears, write her name and the vocal chords are gone. Are you insulting me? Fine, I’ll write down your name and you’ll spend a day on the toilet.

Are you mistreating me after I really went above and beyond for you? Fine, next time you’ll be at the beach your sun cream will become by magic pure frying oil.

Are you asking me a silly question after a very detailed explanation? Fine, you’ll never ever find a free toilet again in your life! Someone will be always in there!

It sounds like a very creative job!

It seems all very legit as well!

I know that I might sound extreme and good thing I was working alone from home last day before my holidays, because I looked like I pictured myself in this doodle:

How about you?

Any other aspiring writers out there, doing tough jobs?

And anyway, Happy Halloween folks, have a spooky one!

Thank you, thanks a lot!

I was writing a totally different post this week, but something happened two days ago that made me change my mind.

I wrote the draft of this post on the train back home because I didn’t want to let go the nice feeling. This explains the timing!

A few days ago, during a meeting, I had a brief chat with one colleague in work. She’s from another department so that was the longest chat I’ve had with her since I’ve started to work here. Honestly we’re so many in the office that is hard to know everybody.

During the chat I mentioned the fact I write in this little blog of mine and she asked me the link.

To be brutally honest I thought it was the usual “send me the link I’ll have a look at it!” I’m usually told when I’m asked the address of my blog.

I know that I can be very needy of a feedback once I give the address to someone, but I learned that seldom people really read my pages with attention.

You can imagine my big surprise when I met her that evening and she told me that not only she had read the blog but she also liked it! I was so surprised and happy!

I’m still not good in accepting compliments from people and I still felt a tad embarrassed but it was pleasant to hear such comments.

I could really tell that he spent some time on my blog and I’m so grateful for that.

Seldom I felt this way, only after a few feedbacks, but it was useful! Useful because it reminds me why I’m writing and how I would like my readers would react reading my words.

It’s true what they say: even if it’s only one person reading your stuff, you should write for that one person. And it is damn true!

I should well remember it in a period like the present one, when I often feel a bit tired and disheartened for the lack of time.

In conclusion, I want to say that I made this big explosion of words in order to tell her: thanks Kate! Thanks a lot!

And you, my dear readers, I guess you should thank her too…she saved you for a much creepier post! I might save it for Halloween week!

Prompt post – Zombie Apocalypse

Google search but totally agreed!

Google search but totally agreed!

I have to admit I might spend on social networks more than I should, but when I do it’s just to look at the pictures and to watch videos, the most of the times even without audio. Basically, it seems that, from time to time during the day, I need to put my brain at rest.

Following many pages about writing, I frequently come across prompts for silly answers, writing challenges or reading challenges.

So let me introduce on these pages my prompt posts. Sometimes it’s nice to have easy and trivial blogs as this one.

So the question for this time was:

The protagonist of the last three things you’ve read or watched or played are the members of your zombie apocalypse team.  Who is it? Are you OK?

The last three fictional people are Claire Randall Fraser from the Outlander series, Thomas from the Maze Runner series and finally Dean and Sam Winchester from Supernatural.

Let’s face the truth, if I found myself in a zombie’s apocalypse alone, I might be one of the first people to kick the bucket.

Being honest, I’m a scare cat, I’m clumsy, I have the 50% curse on me (which is: if I have to choose between two things I always pick the wrong one), I’m not fit and I have problems in adapting in extreme environments.

Now, it’s still possible I might activate a kind of emergency setting, but we’ll never know until it happens. And I hope I’ll have never to find out!

This brings me to the second if. It’s in fact still possible I might survive if I had the right companions.

Hence the reply to the question.

If I had Claire, Thomas, Dean and Sam with me, I cannot be 100% sure I’ll survive but I can rise drastically my chances!

I mean one is a healer, the other one can run fast and adapts to new environments with next to zero problems and the other two…well the other two are hunters, so it’s like their every day’s bread and butter saving people, hunting things, family business… ahem, no, stop Franny, stop!

So the reply will be I’d be grand folks, I’d see you on the other side!!!

How about you? Who is your companion? And how are you?

Let’s play! Write it down in the comment below or link me your blog post!
